Every patient can’t afford porcelain, and most people don’t want their teeth “drilled down.” Composite provides fully functional restorations, whether a Class IV, diastema closure, shade change, adding length, full veneers, or many other changes. This course focuses on a practical and predictable layering technique to make your composite restorations look natural and beautiful. With proper technique, the function and longevity of composite rivals porcelain while
providing benefits other materials can’t match. This comprehensive course — half of which is hands-on — will help you become a master of composite.

Two Days of Workshops

This hands-on course will cover basic layer to advanced composite techniques!

DAY 1
  • Introduction, restorative materials review, determinants of longevity
  • Hands-on #1 (3 Preps-3 Materials)
  • Sequential steps of the layering technique, how to utilize a template to save time and increase accuracy, creating an ideal proximal surface and contact using the Mylar pull technique
  • Shade matching, color blending, creating natural incisal translucency, how to achieve an invisible margin, how to apply this layering technique to Class III, IV, and V restorations
  • Hands-on #2 (large Class IV)
  • OPTIONAL CASE REVIEWS—BRING CASES YOU’D LIKE TO REVIEW WITH DR WILLHITE
  • Social hour
DAY 2
  • Tooth topography, contouring
  • Polishing , composite repairs
  • Shade change on a dark tooth
  • Hands-on #3 (full composite veneer to make a dark tooth bright)
  • Advanced special effects (includes demonstration)

Meet the Instructor

Corky Willhite, DDS, FAACD

Dr. Corky Willhite has achieved Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is one of less than 100 Accredited Fellows in the AACD worldwide. He has served on their Board of Governors (currently the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry) and spent years as an Examiner for Accreditation. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at L.S.U. School of Dentistry. He is on the faculty of the Center for Esthetic Excellence in Chicago. He has been published and feels honored to have so many opportunities to lecture nationally and internationally. Over the years, his private practice in suburban New Orleans—The Smile Design Center—has become limited to Cosmetic Dentistry. His experience is based on a dedication to the belief that “excellence” and “esthetics” are not only compatible but can take dentistry to a new level of satisfaction and success
