Day 1

Lecture
  • Understanding Composite Materials and Concepts of Direct Resin Bonding
  • In-depth direct approach technique for Class III, Class IV, Class V, Diastema Closure, Direct Resin Veneer, Incisal Reinforcement, Repairs, and more.
Hands-on
  • Composite Veneer on right central with focus on sculpting, ideal morphology, contour, finish and polish.
Day 2

Hands-on
  • Change color to a single dark tooth to match existing dentition with composite and step-by-step sequencing.
  • Make a seamless Class IV restoration. From preparation, material application, contouring, finishing and polishing.
  • Create an invisible, seamless Class V restoration.
Course Objectives

  • Use materials available today to their best advantage. These include Microfill, Nanofill, and Microhybrid materials. Find out where each fits into the layering technique.
  • Change the color of a single dark tooth to match existing dentition with composite veneering thru step-by-step sequencing.
  • Learn to contour, characterize, and finish final restorations in order to make them believable.
  • Close diastemas.
  • Achieve perfect line angles and perfect embrasures.
  • Learn how the subtle application of opaquers can mask metal or unwanted color to create invisible restorations.
  • Use tints to augment your restorations or impart translucency.
  • Proven techniques for Class III, IV, and V restorations.
  • Inter-sculpt incisal translucency.
  • Properly polish restorations to acquire a long-lasting, easily maintainable enamel-like luster.
  • Accurately diagnose esthetic needs.
  • Learn a philosophy of practice and communication that allows the patient to understand and easily accept proposed treatment plans.

Meet the Instructor

K. William ‘Buddy’ Mopper, DDS, MS, FAACD

Dr. Bud Mopper has built an international reputation for his pioneer leadership in direct resin bonding.  He practiced minimally invasive dentistry with composite for over 45 years. He is a renowned lecturer in esthetic dentistry. He co-authored, A Complete Guide to Dental Bonding, which was the first definitive book for the dental profession describing bonding techniques – and he has continued to publish numerous articles on The Art and Science of Direct Resin Bonding.  He is a Life Fellow of the Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, Founding Member and Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Life Fellow and Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and Fellow of the American College of Dentistry.  He teaches direct resin bonding on a Continuing Education level at many universities including the Iowa State University and the University of Illinois Chicago, plus he teaches courses at the Center for Esthetic Excellence.

Dr. Mopper is the recipient of three of the most prestigious awards given by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. One for “Lifelong Commitment to Providing Excellence in Continuing Education in Cosmetic Dentistry” and secondly, an award for “Outstanding Contribution to Cosmetic Dentistry” and third for “Outstanding Innovation in Cosmetic Dentistry.” He received the New York University College of Dentistry “The Irwin Smigel Prize in Esthetic Dentistry” and the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the World Aesthetic Congress in England, for “Outstanding Contribution to Cosmetic Dentistry.” He received the 2017 Gordon J. Christensen Lecture Recognition Award from the Chicago Dental Society. Dr. Mopper was awarded the 2018 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is Co-founder and Chairman of Cosmedent, Inc., where he is responsible for educational programs, and product development.

Meet the Instructor

Dennis Hartlieb, DDS, AAACD

Dr. Dennis Hartlieb is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and maintains a full-time practice committed to cosmetic and restorative dentistry in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, Illinois. Dr. Hartlieb is an instructor at the Center for Esthetic Excellence in Chicago and is formerly an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Hartlieb has authored numerous articles on restorative and esthetic dental techniques.

Dr. Hartlieb is an Accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AAACD), a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED), the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry (AARD), the American Dental Association, the American College of Dentists, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He is the founder of Dental Online Training (DOT), an online hands-on training program for dentists, dental auxiliaries, and dental students. Dr. Hartlieb is also an examiner for the AACD Accreditation process.
