About Galen Detrik

GalenDr. Galen Detrik-Hartenberger grew up in small town rural New Mexico, the only son in a family of 7. He credits his dad (a custom home builder) for an incessant desire to create, and his mom (a classically trained artist) for the insatiable love of beauty. He took the long road to dental school, with two years off "learning the business of business" he says. In 2013, he graduated from the University of Colorado SODM, earning his DDS degree with High Honors and multiple awards in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontics and Oral Surgery.

His first year out of school was "the perfect fit" he says, personally mentored by AACD Accredited Member Dr. Duane Beers, a master of direct resin veneers in his own right. The procedure quickly evolved into Dr. Detrik’s first love in dentistry and he poured every waking moment into YouTube videos, hands-on courses and lectures from his icons such as Dr. Newton Fahl, Dr. Jason Smithson, Dr. Corky Wilhite and Dr. Buddy Mopper. He eventually developed his very own, full-arch direct resin veneers technique and returned home to create a concierge total-treatment and aesthetic dentistry practice called THRIVE BioAesthetics in Albuquerque, NM. The tension between artistry and simplicity is something he says, he’ll forever refine.

Outside of chair-side, his passion for socially conscious dentistry is paramount. He and his wife Dr. Davina Detrik head up a dental mission clinic in Barrón, MX annually, and have created their very own program called The THRIVE Initiative, where they recreate natural smiles for survivors of human trafficking. They are also incredibly passionate about the future of private dentistry and have built The Disruptive Dental Collective & THRIVExperience Masterclass as pioneer businesses to that end.

Both Dr. Galen Detrik and Dr. Davina Detrik will be lecturing with Cosmedent at the upcoming AACD 2018 in Chicago on Becoming Visible Creating the Invisible | The Art of The Invisible Class IV, and have a feature publication with the prestigious Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry slated for release in early 2018 on Futuristic Resin Artistry | Restoring A Single Tooth In Reverse.

They have two kids, Nikko and Kyra and reside in Los Ranchos, NM.
