Composite Bonding For Smile Makeovers: Designed for Accreditation Case Type 5

This course will cover Case Type 5 from case selection to completion & a step-by-step procedure for individual tooth changes.

Three days of hands-on exercises focused on Case Type 5 from case selection to completion. (Schedule preview.)

Day 1

  • Attendee introductions (goals, problems)
  • Introduction and materials comparison; strategy for smile makeover cases; case selection for Accred
  • Smile design and treatment planning
    • Tooth topography
    • Diagnostic wax-up (lab Rx, cosmetic preview imaging to draw diagram)
    • Gingival options (instructions to periodontist)
  • Hands-on exercises for material comparison, contouring technique, and template (putty stent)
    fabrication
  • Hands-on exercise for smile design
  • Template technique for transitional bonding of multiple teeth (started)
  • The hands-on exercise started for lingual and incisal surfaces using a template (putty stent)
Day 2

  • Layering technique for ultimate esthetic bonding
    • Diastema closure
    • Invisible margins
    • Creating ideal proximal contacts
  • Hands-on exercise continued for lingual and incisal surfaces using a template (putty stent), invisible margins, and creating ideal proximal contacts, contouring, and polishing
Day 3

  • Occlusion—practical guidelines for lengthening teeth and increasing anterior guidance as well as increasing VDO with a simple, inexpensive composite technique; composite repairs
  • Hands-on exercise to increase VDO
  • Technique for “upgrading” from transitional bonding to ultimate esthetics; advanced surface effects

Meet the Instructor

Corky Willhite, DDS, FAACD

Dr. Corky Willhite has achieved Fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is one of less than 100 Accredited Fellows in the AACD worldwide. He has served on their Board of Governors (currently the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry) and spent years as an Examiner for Accreditation. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at L.S.U. School of Dentistry. He is on the faculty of the Center for Esthetic Excellence in Chicago. He has been published and feels honored to have so many opportunities to lecture nationally and internationally. Over the years, his private practice in suburban New Orleans—The Smile Design Center—has become limited to Cosmetic Dentistry. His experience is based on a dedication to the belief that “excellence” and “esthetics” are not only compatible but can take dentistry to a new level of satisfaction and success
