Class Summary

A comprehensive approach for the restoration of anterior and posterior teeth with all ceramic veneers, onlays and crowns. The emphasis is on adhesive, minimally invasive tooth colored restorations: from treatment planning, through preparation, impression taking, provisionalisation and final cementation/finishing. Cutting edge, evidence based theoretical knowledge will be complemented by a strong hands on component.

Class Overview/Schedule

Day 1
Morning

  • Lecture:
  1. Ceramic veneers: a historical prospective
  2. Begin with the end in mind: wax up driven preparations
  3. Biomimetically sound preparation concepts for veneers in the anterior zone: from minimal preparation to restoration of compromised teeth
  4. Material choices: Classic feldspathic Porcelain vs Pressed Lithium Disilicate; which one, when and where?
  5. Laboratory procedures
  6. A simple approach to create beautiful provisionals
  7. Cementation approaches

Afternoon

  • Hands-on:
  1. Prepare 3 incisor teeth for class 1,2 and 3 veneers
  2. Create aesthetic life-like provisionals, which are identical to your diagnostic wax up using a fast simple approach


Day 2
Morning

  • Lecture:
  1. Preparation designs and instrumentation for partial coverage adhesive restorations
  2. Inlays and onlays: when should we cover cusps?
  3. Immediate Dentin Sealing and Gingival Margin Elevation: new concepts for the 21st century.
  4. Materials selection for the posterior onlay: composite resin Vs ceramic, pros and cons

Afternoon

  • Hands-on:
  1. Partial coverage onlay with immediate dentin sealing and gingival margin elevation (molar) to include provisionalisation and impression taking with sectional tray.


Day 3

  • Lecture:
  1. Margin Designs: horizontal vs vertical margins ; a paradigm shift.
  2. Instrumentation for full crown preparation
  3. Biologic width and periodontal considerations
  4. The provisional: a tissue management tool not just a "temporary"
  • Hands-on:
  1. Full Coverage Crown (Premolar) with vertical margin (feather-edge) preparation. Core-foundation build up.
  2. Hand polishing and detailing of a lithium disilicate (emax) restoration

Qualified at the Royal London Hospital in 1995; achieving a number of awards including The Constance Klein Memorial, The Stafford Millar, and The Malcolm Jenkins Scholarships, The American Association of Endodontics Prize and the Overall Award for Clinical Dentistry. After spending 3 years in oral surgery residency in London and a further year practicing restorative dentistry in London’s Harley Street Medical District, he relocated to Cornwall in the extreme southwest of England. Jason practices at Pure Dental Health and Wellbeing, Cornwall, UK where his main focus is microscope enhanced adhesive dentistry.

His specific interest is direct composite resin artistry and minimally invasive all ceramic restorations and he has presented to dentists locally, nationally and internationally (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe) on this topic. He is a Post-Graduate Clinical Lecturer in both the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly and Plymouth Foundation Dental Practitioners Schemes.

He has given hands on programs in the UK, Europe, Asia, Canada and USA on behalf of GC, Ivoclar, Kerr, Hereaus, Optident, Micerium, Carl Zeiss, Global, Velopex and Triodent. He is a UK "Opinion Leader" for Cosmedent (Enlighten Smiles), A European "Key Opinion Leader" for Hereaus-Kulzer and is a member of the European Restorative Advisory Board for GC Europe. Jason is Resident Faculty at The Centre for Esthetic Excellence, Chicago, USA. He is an Accredited International Trainer for Carl Zeiss Dental Academy.

Jason has achieved Diplomat Status in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons (England).

He is on the Editorial Board of The Russian Journal of Esthetic Dentistry and has published numerous articles on adhesive and aesthetic dentistry in both the UK and abroad. He is joint author of "Vertical Margin Finish Lines In Fixed Prosthodontics" (Elsvier, In print)
